Tree consulting

Tree consulting & hazard evaluation

Consulting for tree services — a qualified opinion on what a tree is doing, what it is likely to do next, and what your options actually are.

Hazard evaluation

Whether a tree genuinely poses a risk to a target — and what would reduce that risk short of removing it.

Crown inspection

Assessment from within the canopy, where the cracks, decay pockets and weak unions actually are.

Diagnosis & recommendations

What is wrong, what can be done about it, what it will cost, and what happens if nothing is done.

When people call us for an opinion

  • Before buying or selling a property with large trees on it
  • Before construction, when trees sit inside the working area
  • After a storm, when damage is visible but the extent is not
  • When a neighbour raises a concern about a shared boundary tree
  • When a tree has been topped and the owner wants to know if it can be saved
  • When something is obviously declining and nobody knows why

Construction is the big one

Most mature trees lost to building work are not hit by machinery. They die from soil compaction and root severance inside the drip line, two to five years later, long after everyone has stopped connecting the two events.

If there is a build coming, the useful conversation happens before the ground is broken — including the honest one about which trees will not survive it and should be removed first.
