Construction is the big one
Most mature trees lost to building work are not hit by machinery. They die from soil compaction and root severance inside the drip line, two to five years later, long after everyone has stopped connecting the two events.
If there is a build coming, the useful conversation happens before the ground is broken — including the honest one about which trees will not survive it and should be removed first.
